Hey loves! There’s a lash craze happening on YouTube that I had to try out myself. If you’ve ever had lash extensions done professionally, you’d know that they make your eyelashes look absolutely stunning. You’d also know the hefty price tag on them. Eyelash extensions can run you anywhere from $150 – $200, and touch ups can run you an extra $70 – $100…YIKES!
Ardell has a DIY Lash Extensions kit that will cost you a fraction of the price. I went to my local CVS and picked up a set for $12. The kit is great because it has long, medium, and short lashes, the permanent glue, tweezers, and the lash remover.
WARNING: I am not a professional! Y’all know I love to experiment, try new things and save money. Many lash techs will not agree with this method, but this is something I wanted to do on me. Make sure you do your own research and are comfortable with doing this yourself before going ahead with trying this out!
(This picture was taken exactly 1 week after I applied the lashes.)
You have to practice to get use to the application. It can be a little tricky, but once you get it, it’s pretty easy. Avoid contact with soaps, moisturizer, makeup remover, excess water; and be extra careful when you wake up in the morning (try not to rub your eyes). The glue will weaken over time and the extensions will fall off, so you can re-apply more, or use the remover that was in the kit to remove them all.
PROS: Lasts 2 weeks (based on how well you take care of them), comfortable to wear, and super affordable.
CONS: Maintaining them can get annoying. Being careful to not get any products/water onto my eyes was harder than I had thought. Also, you have to be mindful of the way you sleep or else you lashes may come off or start to look a bit wonky.
Have you tried these before?
