Evening Fall Skincare Routine

Got an evening skincare routine you love? Awesome! Let’s switch up your evening skin care routine a bit for fall. Why? Even though you’re taking care of your skin, the products and steps you’re taking now may not be as effective during the cooler, fall months. Remember, as the seasons change, so should your skincare routine. I’m going over my evening fall skincare routine to keep your skin hydrated and glowy all fall long.

Best Evening Fall Skincare Routine

1. Remove your makeup

The best way to ensure you remove all of your makeup, dirt, and other impurities from your face is by using the double cleanse method. Double cleansing is what is is: thoroughly washing your face twice using two types of cleansers. For the first cleanser, use an oil-based cleanser. This is going to break down all of the makeup and dirt. Follow up with your second cleanser to ensure you get what ever was left behind.

Quick tip: if you find your skin feels tight after using a cleanser, that’s doing more harm than good for your skin. Use a cleanser that has hydrating elements to it.

2. Exfoliate

Do you know the key to overcoming dry flaky skin? It isn’t by layering a ton of moisturizer on to of it. It’s all about exfoliating that dry, dead skin off. There are two types of exfoliates, chemical and physical. I find that a chemical exfoliant is more effective and gets the job done. The Ordinary has a really good, affordable AHA and BHA pealing solution you should try. If you have pretty sensitive skin, this Paula’s Choice toner is AMAZING.

Quick tip: do not exfoliate your skin every day. Do this once or twice per week.

3. Toner

Speaking of toner, this is the very next step after you cleanse and exfoliate. A toner will remove any bits of product or impurities that may be on your skin (yes, even after you’ve double cleansed). It also does the job of restoring your skin’s PH level. Some cleansers can have a pretty high ph, so a toner is going to help balance your skins PH level.

4. Hydrating Serum

Serums are packed with high concentrations of ingredients that penetrate your skin. Finding serums that have hyaluronic acid or niacinamide is what you’ll want to look for to help keep your skin looking and feeling more hydrated.

5. Eye cream

The skin around your eyes are delicate af, so you’ll want to take extra care of it. Using eye creams will help keep that area hydrated, and reduce the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles.

6. Hydrating Moisturizer

Last but not least, lock it all in with a good hydrating moisturizer. A good moisturizer will not only add to the hydrating process to your skincare routine, but it’ll also lock in all of the products we’ve used prior to this step. Don’t forget your lips either. Use a hydrating lip mask to prevent lips from chapping.

That’s all folks!

Whew, I know that’s a lot of steps. Remember that your skin is repairing itself as you sleep, so having a routine like this will give it an extra boost of keeping your skin looking radiant.
