How To Organize Your Life Using a Planner

I post a lot of snaps and pictures about my planner, and with it comes a ton of questions! With the new year right around the corner (can you believe 2016 is almost over?!) I thought it would be perfect to share with y’all another peek into my Happy Planner and how you can organize your life using one. This is great if you’re looking for a fresh, new agenda to organize your life right before the start of a new year.

  1. Keep tabs in your planner: As  you can see in the picture above, I have 4 tabs before my monthly and weekly calendar begins. The four tabs are: Work, Blog/YouTube, Health and Fitness, and Goals/other. If you’re a student or even a stay at home parent, yours may look a little different from mine. The key is to have different parts of your life and section them up. That way all of your thoughts will be more organized.
  2. Use daily to-do lists: Every night before I go to bed, I make a list of everything I need to do. By preparing yourself the night before you’ll be more mentally prepared to taking on your day, and you’ll feel like a beast as you start checking things off one by one.

3. Use the monthly and weekly calendar: I’m really big on compartmentalizing things, so the vertical layout in this planner is perfect for it. Here’s how I section things off my day:

The top section has to do with anything related to work. This includes my work schedule, meetings, work events, etc.

The middle section is all about my blog and YouTube channel. If I need to edit a video, write a blog post, or need to take photos, all of those tasks go in there.

The bottom section is my other/workout section. What I mean by other is if I have any birthday parties or dinners I need to go to, I jot it down there. I also jot down the workouts I’ve done that day.

Once again, this will look different for everyone. You can have it sectioned off to “Morning, Noon, and Evening” or “School, Work, Sorority”, etc. Do what works for YOU.

4. Have fun with it: The main reason why I’ve actually stuck to using this planner for so long is because of how fun and pretty it looks. I’m big when it comes to visualization, so when my pages look nice and pretty, I’ll use it more. You don’t have to be as crazy as I am. Grab a few stickers, a couple colored pens, and run with it. These are your pages, what will make you come back to it?

You can purchase this planner on the Happy Planner website or a craft store such as Hobby Lobby and Michaels. My tip: Go to a craft store and use their 40% off coupon, and your planner will be around 16 bucks!

Happy planning!
