Plus Size Workout Clothes
Having the right athletic wear is an important factor during your workout. Think about it this way. If you’re wearing something that’s uncomfortable when you’re just sitting around, can you imagine how it would feel when you’re actually working out? Investing in quality pieces can even double down as athleisure wear. These looks can be work at the gym or while running errands (that counts as cardio too, right?). If you are on the plus side, here are my top plus size workout clothes you’ll need to get asap.
I’ve been doing CrossFit for over a year now. From running to weight lifting and everything in between, I quickly realized that a plain t-shirt and leggings wont do. So I’ve narrowed it down to these 4 categories.
GET A GOOD QUALITY, SUPPORTIVE SPORTS BRA
If you are going to do a high-impact workout, be sure to to opt for a bra that will “keep it all together”. As a woman with a large chest, I like to wear bras that have wider straps, wider bands at the bottom of the bra, and is tighter than normal. Size down when picking a sports bra. Once you squeeze into them, you’ll find that running and jump roping will feel more comfortable and your tata’s are going nowhere. If you really want a truly adjustable sports bra, try this one by SheFit.
WEAR THE RIGHT PAIR OF SHOES
Did you know that running shoes are different from weight lifting shoes? I always carry two pairs of shoes in my gym bag for that very reason. Wearing the right pair of shoes will make a difference during your workout. Keep in mind that just like cars, your shoes also have a mileage. To prevent injury, consider changing your running shoes between every 500 to 550 miles, or until it starts showing signs of excessive wear.
THE RIGHT PAIR OF LEGGINGS
Sure you can save money by wearing an affordable 10 dollar pair of leggings from Forever21, but that just wont cut it while you’re at the gym. A good quality pair of workout leggings should pass the squat proof test (if it’s see through at the bottom of a squat, it’s a no-go), have a supportive waistband, and be able to have a full range of motion without having it fall down. For my apple shaped bodies out there in need of a solid high-waisted pair of leggings, these Shapermint high-waisted leggings are my favorite!

Finding the right top to workout in depends on the actual workout itself. If you’re doing a low-intensity workout, wear cotton. Planning on sweating buckets? Wear fabrics like nylon and spandex, especially during hot summer months. And during the cold winter months, be sure to layer up.
